" I saw the sign "

Photobucket

Street signs are everywhere in Manila, there's a "No left turn sign",
another that prohibits Calesa (horse drawn carriage), Pedicab (a 3 wheeled bike)
and Tricycles (a 3wheeled motorcycle) to pass around this intersection and the
pink one on top that says:
"Walang Tawiran; Nakamamatay" literally means
"No Crossing or It may caused your Life".

Although the traffic management has been warning people again and again,
that accidents do happen if one crosses the intersection without a pedxing sign or when the green lights are still on.
some of us are blatantly stubborn headed and refused to listen to any of these pre-cautions.

As a driver, it drives me nuts how people can be so inconsiderate and undiscipline at times.

"Election 2010 "

As much as we're familiar with the candidates who are running for presidency this coming May.

Photobucket

It helps when we see them on t.v adverts or newspapers and why not "paper cups"?!

Photobucket

There's a new gimmick at 7-11 that offers Slurpy and cold beverage drinks.

Photobucket

But instead of ordinary cups, the presidentiable's faces are printed on the cups
and you get to choose which among them you like the most.

Coincidentally, a client of ours bought a drink for himself and chose this as
his favorite.

Photobucket

Anyone of you who might be able to recognize his face? ^0^

Photobucket

It's our former-ousted President Erap Estrada who's running again for the 2nd time.
Call it dejá-vu ! ^-^

Inside the store, they even put up a poll banner for updates on who's leading.

Photobucket

Although i'm staying away from cold drinks, too tempting! i think i'll buy one sometime. ^0^

" roadblock "

Photobucket

Ask any ordinary driver here and they'll tell you that one of the main problems that causes traffic is this unending road repairs.
I'm not an expert, but sometimes, i really don't understand why they have to destroy roads like these when they seem to be working just fine.

Photobucket

I saw a sign further ahead that it's close for rehabilitation and reconstruction.
I hope it's for a good reason.

" Silhouette "

Photobucket

*Almost 84% of the population here are Catholics, but little did we know, there are a lot of congregations here
who are true believers of their faith, hence this foto you're looking at is one of the biggest and organized sect.
This is the "Iglesia ni Cristo" which means "Church of Christ".
It was founded by Felix Manalo in 1914 and since then, has attracted many devotees who has faith in his teachings and doctrines.
So huge that it has already grown into 67congregations in different countries, including the U.S contingent.
The exact number of members is a secret, but is deem to be larger than the Jehovah’s Witnesses, which is also a well known sect. here.
The majority of Iglesia’s members are ex-Catholics.
Despite controversies, having a close relationship with policticians who were seated at that time and his teachings which holds contrary to
many Christian professing religion.
Some observers describe these beliefs as unique and distinct making it different from what is generally known as traditional Christianity.

If you notice, its architecture has narrow-pointed spires, a bit of Gothic but reminiscent of the Mormon temples.
The one you see right now is designed by Architect Carlos Santos-Viola and is considered to be one of the largest structure in the city of Quezon.

" Orange Cherry "

I saw this outside my uncle's house the other day, don't have any idea what it was,
but was attracted by its color and how tiny it looks, almost like orange cherry.
but i'm not sure.
Maybe it's bearing tiny fruits or small buds that's about to grow...
i don't know,
your guess is as good as mine. ^0^

" Who's faster ? "

does anyone here know how to bike? ^-^

Photobucket

Apparently, there was a cycling event last Sunday that I wasn't aware about.
No wonder I saw some of them heading down the road.
Amidst the traffic and pollution that we're having these days.
This eager cyclist is still on the go! ^0^

Photobucket

I seldom take pictures inside the car, since I'm the driver, i rarely have the chance.
I was lucky to get this shot, it so happens she's looking at my direction and again, quickly took the shot without hesitation.
It was seconds later that I saw her telling this to her mom... It's a good thing the car was already moving. ^0^

" Do you know who to vote for? "

Photobucket

Less than 2weeks before voting, candidates who are running for public office
are busy posting their campaign ads here and there. Even though there's a
mandate rule that forbids them to do so.
Politics here is a tricky game, magnetize by intrigues and scandal, over hyped
by the media which all boils down to money and power.
While there are quite a few hopefuls who has vowed to overcome corruption and alleviate poverty, I doubt that in a vast playing field where money is next to temptation and the yearning for power can sometimes turn violent.

Photobucket

It makes me wonder if we'll ever find a president who'll stick to his/her guns,
who's not a puppet, not a sucker, someone who's brave enough to face the real
social problem and actually find solutions for it.

But I'm keeping my fingers crossed, still keeping a positive outlook and hoping
that "change" will come soon. ^-^

" Lechon "

Photobucket

Lechon or Roasted Pigs as it's called is definitely one of the main highlights, must-have dish during fiestas, celebrations and special events.

The whole slab of pig's cooked in charcoal and roast to perfection.
Usually till the skin turns reddish brown, crunchy and not soggy, then the meat inside is juicy and tender.
Around Manila, the famous area where you can find fresh and tasty lechon is in
La Loma, Quezon city.
Ask any driver to take you there and you certainly won't get lost.
The roasted pigs are displayed on the sidewalks and there's a wide array of
lechon stores for you to choose from.
A certain Mr."Mang Tomas" started the whole thing of opening a shop in this area and soon a lot more followed.
Nowadays, the name Mila's lechon and Lydia's lechon are some of the common household names, although, some would beg to differ that Cebu's lechon is the best.
Whatever it is, it all boils down to your preference and taste.
This is a sample of what it looks like out there on the street.

Have you tasted one before? ^0^

" lights up! "

Photobucket

The other day I mentioned a park near a shopping mall called sm-mall of asia,
this is what it looks like during the night.
It almost looked right except for one little thing...
look closely, you'll see an empty bottle lying in the middle of nowhere.
Some of us tend to be stubborn, instead of throwing it in the garbage bin,
they trash things everywhere. ^0^

" Me against the world "

On a hot and humid night, we decided to walk around the park that's across the Mall of Asia
( a famous shopping mall here in Manila).
It was a nice walk , not crowded and there were some soothing music resonating the area.
It's a night spot where you can hang around and feel the breeze of the bay and infront of it, there are quite a handful of restos and bars to choose from which doesn't take up much of the space.

Photobucket

While walking, this little boy caught my interest as he's playing inside this tram stop shade on a late night and amidst all the people, he doesn't seem to mind them at all, obviously absorbed in his own world playing with his toys.
He's so amusing to looked at that i wonder where his parents might be?! ^0^

" Painting for your thoughts "

You like abstract or scenic paintings? ^0^

Photobucket

paintings like these are often seen along Manila bay area.
Usually men carry them around their back or they put it up on a wall or a shaded area where it catches your attention.
i think they're quite cheaper than the local stores, but i didn't ask how much it is as they'd think i'd like to buy one thus, they'd keep on persisting and tagging along wherever you go. ^0^

happy weekend to all!

" Centennial Airport "

The centennial airport located near NAIA (handling International flights) is considered to be one of the newest construction that solely caters to
Philiipine Airlines owned by tycoon Mr. Lucio Tan.

On an early 6-ish dawn, this is what it looks like, still dark and quiet, looks like noone is around that's because it's still early.
A pathway going inside the airport.
I like the subdued tone of this faux arch lighting it highlights the curve detail of its design. We often see the big modern side of the bldg. that we neglect to notice the small ones.

Photobucket

Apologies for not visiting on your blogs lately, things have been busy,
but i'll try to regain my blogging energy the soonest! ^0^
*and on another note: Haidee commented last week, asking for some of my

i'd be glad to share it and will try to provide you the most that i have,

" Flag "

Photobucket

Hey guys! i'm back from my trip! thanks for your thoughtful comments
and for missing me! ^0^
I'm still exhausted from my trip to china with pepperoni,
which was supposed to be my vacation.
Still have some hangovers on the cold weather, climbing the steep steps of the
Great wall, the historical terracota warriors and the picturesque view of the city.
An experience quite unforgettable for the both of us.

I would start posting some of it on my other blog ...soon!
...still need some time to organize my fotos. ^0^

meanwhile,it feels good to be home again, everything's back to normal.
The foto today was taken outside the forbidden palace in beijing and our tour guide was waving this flag to and fro.
For those of you who don't know, It's our national
Flag.
i never realize how vital it is till we were there,
esp. when there were lots of people around the area, it's easy for you to get lost, i'm glad i recognize something familiar. ^0^
