" Now Showing "

Photobucket

I can't get enough of "The girl with the golden tattoo",
and if you haven't watched it yet, I recommend the original suede version,
it's a trilogy actually, based on the novel by Stieg Larsson.

how about you, any interesting films you've watched lately.
This foto was taken on the streets of Rizal avenue and Recto.

Happy weekend everyone!

It's just a matter of seconds but he didn't see it coming.
When he realizes that he was being photographed,
he pulled out his hand nonchalantly and beg for money. ^-^

on another note:
I want to wish everyone a Happy hearts day! ^0^

" Checkmate "

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

anyone for a game of chess? ^0^
there they are tucked in a corner.
They say it's one way to de-stress and helps your mind as well.
I don't know, i don't really have the patience for it,
I felt like it's time consuming. ^-^
I tried it when i was a kid, but I always end up throwing in my queen,
I guess it's not my cup of tea.
But interesting to see that children as young as them seem to be having fun in
this game.

" Divinity "

Photobucket

In a local street here in Manila there's a line of shops selling
religious relics and artifacts.
Pinoys tend to be superstitious if not believers of faith and the supreme being.
Regardless of whether or not you do,
I'm sure there's something interesting to see.
Take this shop for example, because I only have seconds before the car speeds ahead,
it was hard to get a good angle, so this is pretty far a good one.
When I was tweaking my foto, I was surprised to see that the religious figures are
still covered in plastics, for protection against dust and getting old I guess. ^0^
upon looking closer, they have a bust of Jose Rizal ( national hero) and they even sell tombstone!
how morbidly interesting is that?!

" The long and winding road "

Nothing particular in this tiled flooring, just that I like how it had turned out.
The street i'm sharing you now is near Rizal Avenue, along Sta. Cruz and also the church. The streak of lamps leads to Sta. Cruz bridge.
a lot of hubbub during the day and a busy street as well,
but certainly not advisable to wander alone at night. ^0^

Photobucket

Ps: Hi guys!
sorry for the silent hiatus,
things have been busy and posting wasn't possible.
a lot has happened to Manila these past few weeks,
but the worst one were the torrential rains and those unending typhoons.
Things have been slowly getting back to normal again.

" He scores! "

Filipinos have a thing for basketball,
I don't know why they like it so much,
It's like Japan is to Baseball as Europe is to football,

Most Sundays, some parts of the alleyway and side streets would be barricaded
and impassable to cars.

I don't think it's a hassle for most of the drivers,
I don't hear them complain about it,
but It is a bit troublesome for me, because instead of taking a
shorter trip to my destination,
I am forced to take the other street, only to find out
that it's also barricaded because, there's another basketball game happening.
When they're kind enough to let you pass, you take extra caution as not to
hit anyone or in case the ball accidentally hits your car.

Although, there are certain areas provided for this recreation and leisure event,
in a city where it's overpopulated,
It's literally not enough.

" Rude Awakening "

The traffic light was red when I saw this kid,
I was immediately drawn by him that at such a young age,
he knew he had to help his father sell ripe mangoes on the street.

Photobucket

Sometimes you can't help but feel pity for these kids.
Hardly a chance for a better life and sometimes deprived of education.

Quinta Market is one of the busiest if not the boisterous "Palengke" (marketplace) in town.
It's located in Quiapo and if one wants to scout for fresh goodies and meat,
then this is your one stop shop.

" Outdated "

Photobucket

Bambang is a street that's famous for its U2 clothes, not to be confused
with the band, it's what we locally call it here i.e. Used clothes.
This aside, I spotted this house from afar and always find it a pity that an
old heritage house like this seems haunted with no plans of refurbishing it.
I always fancy its details and the nostalgic feel of it.

Happy Monday all! ^0^

" Cornered "

In one of my unfamiliar walks, there are these narrow alleyways that lead from one street to another that are mostly residential.

Photobucket

But not all of them look like this.
In fact, it's a friendlier version.
I like how the residents planted these greens that added more decor to a dull atmosphere and then makes it distinct from the others.

" the Big picture "

Photobucket

A typical scenario around Quiapo.
This one seen in front of Minor Basilica (Quiapo Church ).
During daytime the plaza isn't crowded as it is after office hours or when a mass is being held, be prepared to go elbow to elbow with people and non stop hollering hawkers, selling street foods and what not. ^0^
