" Imagination gone wild "

as the title suggest,
This is a rather obscure art piece installed along Roxas blvd.
I think there's also one installed outside the Ayala museum in Makati.



What it signifies, who is the artist...
I don't have a clue.
I think it helps if they put a plaque of some sort to give us at least some idea as to why it's on display.

" Pitong Salita (se7en words) "

I wish I knew what this sculpture was trying to convey,
I didn't any find info about it when I was there.
maybe it was only meant as an accent piece.

Forgive the bad lighting and my P&S camera, even from a different angle,
this was the best I could do.

Any wild guesses as to what it might be? ^0^

Best Photo of the Year

Barely half a year on City daily photo, already running on my (almost) 150th post and deciding for the "Best" one can be nerve racking for me. ^0^

Finally, i chose this photo labeled: "Graffiti"

What the artist is trying to portray on this piece is still an enigma, the art itself doesn't show anything that signifies Manila, but i like this photo bec. it's different, it's quirky in a way, colorful, chaotic in some way and very subjective.

But as i'm re-posting it again, i notice something i haven't before, there are actually 3 figures on this piece.
the first one, you can obviously see it on the far right side (b&W) wearing glasses.
Now, see the color red on the right and the purple color on the left?
slowly, tilt your head towards both sides and you'll see the other two figures. ^-^

"BAHAY KUBO"

This painting is a perfect example of a Nipa hut a.k.a. Bahay Kubo,

It's an indigenous native house - constructed out of bamboo tied together, with a thatched roof using nipa/anahaw leaves.

Nipa huts were the native houses of the indigenous people of the Philippines before the Spaniards arrived.

They are still used today, but mostly in the rural area.
I wish i knew who the painter was...unfortunately this was one of my random photos.

"SARIMANOK"

~ the motif inside the refurbished bookstore that i used to go to...
maybe you're wondering what's it got to do with books?!
i don't have any idea either. ^-^ But just a theory,...

Sarimanok- is a mythical bird which originated from Mindanao (one of our main islands) .
Manòk - is a Philippine word for chicken...

It has become as a symbol and an art.
It is depicted as a fowl with colorful wings and feathered tails.
It is said to be a symbol of good fortune also.
