" Balut "

a lot has been said and posted about this particularly out of the ordinary egg or as we call it here "Balut."
Now why on earth does it look like that?

Photobucket

" A balut is a fertilized duck embryo that is boiled alive and eaten in the shell."
I know it looks a bit gooey and unpleasant.
But it is believed to be an aphrodisiac and considered a high-protein.

Info credits from Wikipedia.
Mostly sold by dtreet vendors for just P 12.- these days, roughly less than 50cents.
It's also available in other parts of Southeast Asia.

  1. It is a great picture but it doesn't look like something I want to try Arabesque. ;)

  2. Same here. It's dinner time here, but I think I'll pass. No need for aphrodisiacs anyway!

    haha,
the Balut isn't for all that's for sure, and it can be one of a kind,
but it's tasty and erm, still tastes like a normal egg. ^0^

the next time you ought to try though,
i suggest, close your eyes and try to have an open mind. ^-^
