a lot has been said and posted about this particularly out of the ordinary egg or as we call it here "Balut."
Now why on earth does it look like that?
" A balut is a fertilized duck embryo that is boiled alive and eaten in the shell."
I know it looks a bit gooey and unpleasant.
But it is believed to be an aphrodisiac and considered a high-protein.
Info credits from Wikipedia.
Mostly sold by dtreet vendors for just P 12.- these days, roughly less than 50cents.
It's also available in other parts of Southeast Asia.

It is a great picture but it doesn't look like something I want to try Arabesque. ;)
ReplyDeleteSame here. It's dinner time here, but I think I'll pass. No need for aphrodisiacs anyway!
ReplyDeleteIt's an Alien egg!
ReplyDeleteI think I might stick to chicken for protein Arabesque haha! Was really interesting to see, now I can say I know what a 'balut' egg is!!
ReplyDeleteOmg! You need to warn me when you post something like this, Arabesque! haha! I thought Japanese people eating raw eggs was odd but this is REALLY odd...what does it taste like? :D
ReplyDeletehi guys! tnx for sharing your thoughts. ^0^
ReplyDeletehaha,
the Balut isn't for all that's for sure, and it can be one of a kind,
but it's tasty and erm, still tastes like a normal egg. ^0^
the next time you ought to try though,
i suggest, close your eyes and try to have an open mind. ^-^
