I found this dated structure infront of Sta. Cruz church.
What used to be a bank called Monte de piedad savings and mortgage. ( see emblem cross on the middle).
It has an eclectic blend of architecture, the glass arch window, the art nouveau railings on the balcony and the classic pediments.
In some countries, this would be quite a common sight but I think in here, it's quite rare to see these kinds of structures, what with new infrastructures here and there, not preserving the old ones.

Eclectic indeed.
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous image. Great building.
ReplyDeleteI love the ironwork on the balconies!
ReplyDeleteI love the railings and it would be great to buy it in case the building goes down, hahahah...
ReplyDeleteLovely old building, just right in monochrome!
ReplyDeleteI think she was a beauty in her prime!
ReplyDeletei can only imagine how beautiful this structure must be in the old days. it still retains some of its beauty even in its current condition.
ReplyDeleteI'm a sucker for arches.
ReplyDeleteAnother building which I wish the city would restore, like the old Capitol Theater in Escolta.
ReplyDeleteLove old buildings - great photo opportunities. And thanks for the brief, all too brief, lesson in architecture!
ReplyDeleteIncongruous with the window air conditioners. Nice catch.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful building, perfect for a B&W (probably it looks equally beautiful in color). I like the pediments, they are quite unusual, and the railings looks very nice as well. Great find.
